Ticket to Ride Surf School Terms and Conditions



Please find below all terms and conditions that apply to surf lessons at Ticket to Ride Surf School. Surf training courses (e.g. Lifeguard and Surf Instructor training) has different T&Cs. Please see Point 3 for more information.

1. The Booking

a. When booking a course, a contract is made when the booking is confirmed in writing or email by Ticket to Ride.

b. Payment must be made in full at the time of booking, unless a different payment schedule is issued to you at the time of booking.

c. The person signing the booking form accepts responsibility for payment for everyone listed on the booking and is responsible for ensuring that all other persons listed on the booking form read the Terms and Conditions below and that they are aware of the booking details.

d. All participants must complete our declaration before they will be allowed to take part in any surf lessons.

e. Ticket to Ride do not accept any liability for any loss caused by failure to complete the declaration.

2. Changing your booking

a. Ticket to Ride Surf School will make every effort to arrange any changes requested after the booking has been confirmed, providing it is more than 7 days before the course start date.

b. After this time no changes can be made. Any changes are subject to availability of course places.

3. Cancellations

a. All cancellations must be sent in writing and will be effective on the date which they are received by Ticket to Ride Surf School.

b. Cancellation charges are payable as follows:

i. Period before course we are notified, the below Percentage of total cost will be retained:

1. Over 48 days 10% of total cost
2. 36-47 days 50% of total cost
3. 22-35 days 75% of total cost
4. Under 21 days 100% of total cost

Please note that the Terms & Conditions for surf training courses are different to surf lessons, hire and surf & stays. Once you’re ready to book your course, you can do so via the website by selecting your preferred dates. You will need to pay in full to secure your place, so ensure you’re 100% certain before doing so as payments are NON RUFUNDABLE. If you’re unable to attend your booked course then we try our best to transfer your booking to an alternative date in the same season. If your unsure about anything, give us a call before booking.

4. Liability and Other Important Information

a. The activity of surfing carries with it a degree of risk both to people and property, even if enjoyed under proper supervision by qualified instructors. It is also a strenuous activity that requires those taking part to have a reasonable standard of swimming and fitness.

b. All course members must therefore make us aware of any medical conditions, illnesses or allergies they may have and any prescribed medication they are taking on the booking form at the time of booking.

c. No-one should participate in any surfing lesson if they are suffering from a heart condition or if they are pregnant. All course members must be able to swim at least 25 metres and must in no circumstances be under the influence of any alcohol, drugs or medication at the time of the lesson which may adversely affect their physical abilities.

d. All course members must agree to abide to all instructions and decisions that Ticket to Ride Surf School and its instructors make in order to secure the safety and comfort of all participants.

e. Course members will have the use of Ticket to Ride Surf School equipment during their lessons. Whereas Ticket to Ride Surf School takes all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and good condition of that equipment, course members are responsible for immediately reporting any damage caused to the equipment or which becomes apparent whilst the equipment is in their possession.

f. Ticket to Ride Surf School does not seek to limit or exclude any liability for personal injury or loss of life which may occur as a result of its own negligence or that of its employees, officers or agents however, Ticket to Ride Surf School assumes no liability in respect of any personal injury, loss, damage, consequential loss or third party claims which occur through no fault of its own, its employees, officers or agents. All other liability or conditions implied by law are excluded to the fullest extent possible.

5. Surf conditions

a. In the rare event that Ticket to Ride Surf School considers sea conditions to be unsuitable for surf instruction, a credit voucher will be issued. Credit for any lessons owed can be used within one year from the date of he cancelled lesson. Any lessons owed must be booked in advance and are subject to availability. No refunds are issued.

6. Accommodation

a. Ticket to Ride Surf School’s guide to places to stay is intended only as a guide to assist booking accommodation.
b. Ticket to Ride accepts no responsibility for booking any accommodation and cannot be held responsible for any aspect of or problems arising from course members’ accommodation arrangements.

7. Brochure and website accuracy

a. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the accuracy of Ticket to Ride Surf School’s brochure, flyers and website it is intended only as a guide to the services it provides and Ticket to Ride Surf School is relieved of any liability due to any errors or omissions it may contain, or any minor discrepancies between the brochure or website’s content and that service.

8. Prices

a. The prices printed on this website/form are valid at the time of publication. Ticket to Ride Surf School reserves the right to increase or reduce any of these prices any time after publication. Any changes will be made clear at the time of booking.
